Pamela Goldberg
Pamela Goldberg was born and grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa, but has lived in London for most of her adult life. She has had a varied career working as an analyst in the City in the 1980s and then as a management consultant working between the USA and Europe with medical and technology companies. She also ran a family art gallery in Johannesburg when the family returned there for a few years in the 1970s.
Pamela is married to John, also from South Africa, who is a retired orthodontist. They have a daughter, currently living in Switzerland with her family, and a son in London, and five grandchildren.
Pamela stood down as Chief Executive of Breast Cancer Campaign, a medical research charity, in June 2011. During her time she built the charity from two to sixty staff. The charity achieved position 40 in the Sunday Times 100 best places to work in the public and voluntary sector in her last year in office.
She retains links with medical research and science and is a non-executive member of the Human Tissue Authority and serves on committees of the Food Standards Agency and the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency. She was recently appointed a trustee of Moorfields Eye Charity.
Pamela is a member of the City Livery Club and a Fellow of the RSA. For many years while pursuing her career and bringing up a family she described her hobby as sleeping, but now she has more time she reads, cooks more creatively, enjoys opera and is appreciating spending a more relaxed time with her family.
She was admitted to the Livery in 1987 and to the Court in 2002 and is the first woman to be elected Master.
