Malcolm Samuels

Malcolm Samuels was born on 18 February 1942 in Ripley, Surrey. He was educated initially at Dulwich College Preparatory School and later at Carmel College near Wallingford.

He married Jane (née King-Hamilton) in 1966 and they have two daughters and three grandchildren.

Admitted as a Liveryman to the Worshipful Company of Needlemakers in 1974, Malcolm was elected to the Court in 1998 and will be installed as Master in October 2009.

Malcolm qualified in 1965 and his professional career as a Chartered Accountant has been evenly split as a Partner in private practice in the City of London and later as Group Finance Director of various multi-national fully listed companies mainly in the retail sector.

Malcolm’s interests include cricket, where he is a Full Member of the MCC, music, theatre, photography and, for further relaxation, crosswords and Sudoku. He is currently a member of the Westlon Housing Association, the principal activity of which is the provision of affordable accommodation to the elderly.

He is a Past Master of the Aldersgate Ward Club and of the 100 Group of Chartered Accountants. He has also been a Committee Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
