John was admitted as a Freeman in 2000, and he joined the Company as a Liveryman in 2001. As is now the custom of the Livery, he served five years on the Court before joining the “pool” from which the Junior Warden Elect is selected.
[During his time of the Court he served on the Charity and Membership Committees]
A Solicitor by training and the Senior Partner of his firm John practises in the areas of Commercial Property and Company Commercial Law. Having practised for many years in Croydon and the West End of London his practice now operates three linked offices in Greater London and North East Surrey.
[John has held and continues to hold various executive and non-executive directorships and has been President and/or Chairman of a number of local professional bodies.]
He is a Trustee of a charity providing meals and support to the elderly in the South Croydon area. He is also currently a Conservator of the Banstead Commons administering approximately 1,500 acres of common land in the Reigate area.
Sadly, Ros – John’s wife of 33 years – lost her fight against cancer in September 2018. John has two sons, both of whom are Liverymen of the Company.
In what time is left for hobbies, John enjoys swimming, walking and gardening and visiting the battlefields of the second world war – whilst time on the ski slopes appears a distance memory.
