Quilt and Stitch Village 2024

On 14th April, Past Master Henry Milward attended the annual Quilt and Stitch Village event and presented the Needlemakers Prize which is a sliver salver, a Needlemakers Company needle case and a cash prize to the People's Choice Winner Helen Stamp with :-

A Little Bit of Paradise

The original but unfinished ‘Bird of Paradise’ quilt top was made around 1858-1863 and hangs in the American Folk Art museum in New York. Carlos’s Searcey of ‘Threadbear’ interpreted the quilt and named it ‘Civil War Bride’. This is my adapted version of that quilt. It is hand appliquéd and hand quilted.

It measures about 6 by 4 feet. 

The show has expanded in recent years and now has 13 prize categories and included a winner from Australia.
